Get That Wedding Glow.

Weddings are a beautiful but demanding time, and you want to look your best on the most special day of your life. Here’s a guide to help you get your skin glowing.

Set a goal

It is easy to get carried away so the first bit of advice I would give is to set a specific goal – what is the top thing that you would love to achieve? Whether it’s reducing acne, hydrating your skin or increasing collagen, if you are focused the goal you set will be more attainable.

Timeline

Next keep track of your timeline. The sooner you can start on your journey, the better the results. It is easy to get carried away with finding a venue, caterer, dress…but if you can book a consultation with your aesthetician they can advice you on the best approach for long lasting results. Don’t worry if you haven’t left long enough – your aesthetician will do their best to work around your timeline.

6 – 12 months before the wedding.

If you have a year before your wedding, this will give you ample time to work on your skincare routine, your pores, hydration and collagen. It will also allow your aesthetician to present you with the most options to target different concerns, as well as spread the cost of your treatment to make it more affordable.

6 months before the wedding

Start your skincare routine, to address any unevenness in skin tone. Retinols and tretinoins are a great way to address issues like acne or hyperpigmentation. This can be tied in with skin peels to resurface your skin and facials to improve circulation and cell turnover. If you have enlarged pores or acne scarring then radiofrequency microneedling is a great way to get the best skin tone.

3 months before the wedding

This is a great time to reassess your skin, check if the routine is working well with your skin. If you are thinking of glowing skin then this is a great time to add Profhilo (injectable moisturiser) into your plan. If the wedding is taking a toll on your sleep, this may also be a great time to add Lumi Eyes (a polynucleotide) to refresh the area around your eyes.

1 month before the wedding

This is the time to get your anti-wrinkle injections redone – not only to help get every crease ironed out but also to benefit from the glow it provides. Finish off the skinboosters and carry on with your facials, bi-weekly or monthly depending on budget and when you started your skincare.

THE FINAL FEW WEEKS

2 weeks before the wedding

Do not do anything new to your skin! Keep up your routine, have your last facial and stay hydrated. This is a good time to stop retinols if you are not acne prone, as it can cause flakiness. If you are acne prone then do not change your routine as it can lead to breakouts.

1 week before the wedding

If you have previously had a surface skin peel like the Obagi Blue Radiance Skin Peel, then this is a good time to have one redone. The key at this point is to stay hydrated and well moisturised. Ensure as well as your face you are looking after your neck, decolletage and hands.

The big day

Keep your skin as light as possible, cleanse (and tone) and make sure to use a tinted SPF under your makeup.
